Accommodation fees

Rooms vary in price depending on what type of room you have and the length of the residency agreement you wish to sign up for.

Residence fees for the 2010/11 session

  • £105.98 per week for standard* period of residence (en-suite rooms)
  • £91.00 per week for Standard* period of residence (LFW - non ensuite rooms) 
  • £87.85 per week for standard* period of residence (Chantry - non ensuite rooms)
  • £79.45 for an optional ‘extended’ 48-week period of residence (Lucia Foster Welch ONLY).

The above fees are for new undergraduate and postgraduate students staying in Student Residences for the first time.

*Standard residence period for 2010/11 is 41 weeks

Emily Davies:|

Rooms at the Emily Davies Residence vary in price dependent upon the size of the room. Emily Davies is configured into flats for three or four people and is normally set aside for continuing and postgraduate students.

Standard period contracts are also available at Emily Davies.

What the fees include

  • Rent for the study-bedroom
  • All utility bills 
  • Faster than broadband Internet access
  • Cleaning of communal areas
  • Accommodation during Christmas and Easter (so there’s no need to move your stuff out).
  • Repairs and maintenance

Car parking

Parking can be reserved subject to availability. Payment for the whole year is required up front but can be is refundable on a pro-rata, termly basis.

The car parking fee for 2010/11 is £10.50 per week .

How to pay

Instalments

To make life easier, accommodation fees can be spread across the whole year and paid in either three equal instalments – normally October, January and April – or seven equal monthly instalments. Payment is made by direct debit.

All at once

If you prefer to get it out of the way, you can pay all your fees in one go before you get here or when you move in. To pay before you arrive, you can use a credit/debit card. To pay on arrival you can use a credit/debit card or you can pay in cash.

If you pay all your accommodation fees in one go you’ll receive a vouchers worth £100 of food or drink from any of restaurants or cafés on campus.

Please note: all students from outside the EU must pay their accommodation fees in FULL before they move into their room.

The final details of your fees and options for payment will be sent to you with your accommodation confirmation.

As part of the University’s access arrangements, these Residence fees include a discount for all students staying in our Student Residences in central Southampton, and whose tuition fees will be directly paid to Southampton Solent University.
