13 April 2010- Cycle ride for Ross
Alistair Houghton is cycling 600 miles from Southampton to Edinburgh to raise money for ME charity, CFS Research Foundation , in memory of his brother, Solent alumnus, Ross Houghton (Human Resources Management 1998 - 2001)
The eight day trip will follow the arduous terrain of the Peak District, the Yorkshire Dales and Northumberland National Park. Alistair - who will be accompanied by his brother-in-law - will be carrying his own gear.
Alistair’s motivation for the challenge results from the death of his brother in 2007 after a long and painful eight year fight with M.E. Alistair said: “Although M.E. is not a killer itself, it destroys the life of sufferers and has a huge impact on their families. More serious long term sufferers are often bed-bound and in severe pain. The cause of ME has not been found and there is no known cure. The CFS Research Foundation is a small charity that funds vital research.
