IT Resources
The University has four IT Resource Centres, located in the Sir James Matthews Building, Michael Andrews Building, the Library and at Warsash Maritime Academy.
The Centres provide a pleasant working environment and are equipped with 670 PCs and 144 Apple Macs in enclosed and open-access areas.
The University high-speed data network provides all of these computers with connections to the Internet, Portal and local file servers.
The following facilities are amongst those offered in the Centres:

Friendly and experienced staff provide a helpdesk service for advice and assistance throughout normal opening hours

Quality computing facilities accessible seven days a week in at least one centre during term time

Access typically available from 8.30am until 9.00pm during term time, with extended twilight opening of one centre during peak periods

A wide range of up-to-date software is available on all computers

Helpful leaflets, guides and computer based training materials

One-to-one tutorial sessions can be booked with IT helpdesk staff

Laptop computers and digital cameras available for hire at a small daily charge

Each student is given a personal account with e-mail and file storage which is accessible both on and off campus

High speed access to the Internet

Colour, black and white printing and scanning facilities available in most areas

All machines equipped with CD-RW and multimedia facilities

Assistive technology hardware and software is available for those students who need it
